Vladimir Lamut, Novo mesto, watercolor, signed lower right, originally framed, dimensions: 96 x 71 (+ frame 10 cm. ).
Vladimir Lamut (1915-1962), painter and graphic artist, graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Arts. He furthered his graphic arts skills at the Brussels Academy of Arts. Lamut loved to paint landscapes around Novo mesto and along the Krka River. His style is realistic. In 1958, the Lamut Art Salon was established in Kostanjevica.
He created mainly in the drypoint technique and lithography, drawing, oil, gouache, watercolor, and in the last year of his life also in color monotypes. He depicted the Dolenjska countryside a lot, especially the Krka River, and he is also characterized by metropolitan vedute with an anxiously alienated atmosphere. He experienced Novo mesto and the nature along the Krka River as his circle of life and a place of artistic creation. He was fundamentally a realist with a strong expressive emphasis, a constant seeker of personal expression, and a graphically gifted landscape painter. Among his figurative works, self-portraits and dynamic female nudes stand out.
