Jože Ciuha (1924 - 2015), painter, illustrator and graphic artist, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana in 1950 under professors France Mihelič and Gojmir Anton Kos. His works of art differed in their painting technique. He painted on canvas, plexiglass, and in watercolor. He also worked with graphics, tapestries, and illustrations. He often combined serious themes with cheerful, humorous, and unusual accents. His art reflects the modern world. He often criticized human mistakes and weaknesses by using animal images. He represented humans in his works as terrifying and funny at the same time.
He had more than 800 exhibitions around the world and received numerous awards. Also the most important Slovenian award in the field of fine arts, the Jakopič Award.
