Josef Drha, oil on jute, made in 1946, signed "J. Drha" and dated, well preserved and framed. Dimensions 73 x 92.5 cm (+ frame). Josef Drha (1912 - 2009), versatile and multi-awarded Czech painter, landscape painter, still life and nude painter, sacral painter,... He is known primarily for his still lifes and intimate motifs, where mood and color harmony are in the foreground, rather than precise realism. His works are often characterized by: soft, slightly blurred strokes, a calm, warm color palette, a sense of silence, restraint and melancholy, a connection to the late impressionist and post-impressionist tradition. Floral still lifes are more than decoration for him - they act as mood records, where nature becomes the bearer of feelings and time. It is this restrained poeticism that makes his works popular among lovers of classical painting to this day. About the artist: https://www.josefdrha.com/en/josef-drha/
