Writing chest, late 18th century (b. 1780), Joseph style, inlaid walnut veneer, original brass handles. Restored in our restoration workshop. Dimensions: 110 x 56 (33) x 123 (h) cm. The Josephine style is the generally accepted name for the style from 1780 to 1810, but it is actually an Austrian local version of one of the Neoclassical styles (with a strong influence from French Neoclassicism). It was named after the Austrian Emperor Joseph II, a great reformist of that period.
