Mausar is one of the best-known representatives of our native or naive painting. He created several thousand paintings in oil on canvas and glass, in which the heroes of his stories, little people, fellow villagers from his youth, farmers and village specialities from his native Žirovski kot at the end of the Poljanska dolina are depicted in a slightly caricatured style. Mausar included motifs from memories of childhood experiences, events from past and semi-past history that took place in the peasant world of traditional customs, filled with suffering, joy and longing.
