He has been confined to a wheelchair since childhood due to muscular dystrophy. When his large family went to the fields to do farm work, Stjepan stayed at home and drew and carved. Over the years, the advanced disease also prevented him from doing the work he liked best and confined him to bed.
Thanks to his talent, in the seventies of the 20th century, Janžek exhibited his paintings at many exhibitions at home and around the world. He is a representative of the so-called "Zagorska direction".
